Free Practice 3 saw Andrea Iannone leading the way with the alleged strong Ducati Team 1'30.925 and many will become a serious threat in Qualifying. Iannone unfortunately not able to go faster than in FP3 and only managed 1'31.056, placing him seventh on the grid for Sunday. Using a three-run strategy, Iannone tried to gain an edge over the rest of the MotoGP ™ field but can not afford. 'The Maniac's' pace has been high all weekend and even on the seventh he shall have the pace to battle in the top five and depending on how the tires degrade, to the podium.
A podium would help Iannone very moment he tried to get back into fourth place in the MotoGP ™ World Championship, two DNFs during the flyaways see Italy lose valuable points in the form Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda). With 188 points, Iannone just two points behind Pedrosa and finishing in the top five and ahead of the Spaniard is the Italian goal. A four World Championship finsih will be outstanding results for both Iannone and Ducati which no doubt will continue to increase in 2016.
Andrea Iannone: "For some aspects it was a positive day, with me setting the fastest time in FP3, but then we did not exactly do the qualifying session the best of the season. In the afternoon we struggled quite a lot and I was not able to improve the lap time I was. We were a bit off the pace of the fastest riders and now we have to fix something to try and do a race with someone else tomorrow. For sure, we will make every effort to do so. "
